As of 2010 the Library District receives 91% of its funding through a 3 mill tax levy that appears on property tax bills approved by Mesa County taxpayers in 1990. Tax revenue from Specific Ownership Taxes brings in another 7%. 2% of the library revenue is derived from fines, fees, grants and donations.
Who governs Mesa County Public Library District and how is it run?
A seven-member volunteer Board of Trustees is appointed by the Mesa County Board of Commissioners to establish library policy, including issues related to expansion.
